Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a senior mechanical engineer to lead the design and analysis of rugged avionics enclosures for lunar missions. You will drive cross-functional collaboration with electrical, systems, and manufacturing teams to ensure reliability in harsh space environments.

Responsibilities include leading design studies, creating CAD models and drawings, conducting tests, and mentoring junior engineers. Priority on safety, quality, and on-time delivery within the Lunar Permanence program.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• 10+ years designing ruggedized electronic enclosures or similar high-performance/high-reliability hardware.
• Skilled with static structural, modal, random vibration, and thermal analysis.
• 3D CAD modeling programs (Creo preferred).
• FEA tools (Ansys preferred).
• Experience with GD&T implementation and analysis (ASME Y14.5).
• Ability to manage multiple projects and lead teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in a cross-disciplinary design team.
• Lead design and analysis of avionics enclosures for harsh environments.
• Collaborate with electrical and systems teams to integrate PCB and interconnects.
• Create 3D CAD models, drawings, and installation documents.
• Plan and conduct engineering tests and data reviews.
• Mentor junior engineers and review designs.
