Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) Boise, ID is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to apply power system expertise across protection, automation, and design projects.

The role focuses on leading complex assignments, training customers, and developing proposals while ensuring quality and safety. Candidates should have 5+ years in electric power systems and be willing to travel up to 25% internationally and domestically.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience with electric power systems and related practices.
• Knowledge of protection and control, integration, automation, and communications applications.
• Experience with power system design, studies, ICT, and protective relays.
• Willing to travel at least 25% domestically and internationally.
• Strong writing, documentation, and communication skills; team oriented; background check and drug test.

Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of power system focus areas to complex assignments.
• Lead customer training on design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning, and operation of automation and/or protection systems.
• Lead in assigning, completing and implementing work within scope, schedule and budget to a high level of quality and safety.
• Assist in proposals for SEL equipment, services, and systems.
• Mentor and develop staff; may supervise as necessary.
• Model SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
• Understand. Create. Simplify.
• Other duties as assigned.
