Job summary

GAF is seeking a Corporate Automation and Controls Engineer IV to provide technical direction for control and automation systems across plants. You will troubleshoot production line processes and mentor plant controls personnel.

The role drives technical standards, leads strategic projects across multiple plants, and supports plant initiatives. Travel about 60% is required; residency in listed states is eligible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
• 5+ years of controls engineering experience in a continuous manufacturing environment is required.
• 10+ years of controls engineering experience in a continuous manufacturing environment preferred.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S., without visa sponsorship.
• Proficiency with Rockwell Automation software: Studio 5000, RSLogix 500, FTView, CCW, FTAC.
• Proficiency with Allen Bradley PowerFlex variable frequency drives.
• HMI development experience: FTView and/or Wonderware.
• Experience maintaining production networks, including servers and switches.
• Expertise in electrical components, PLCs, instrumentation, and variable speed drives.
• Experience leading controls projects from scope through installation/startup.
• Ability to use trending and analytics to troubleshoot process issues.
• Knowledge of web handling operations is a plus.

• Identify opportunities to improve plant performance.
• Lead and standardize controls team practices across the organization.
• Lead strategic projects across multiple plants.
• Provide plant support and training for control systems.
• Coordinate with controls group and maintain knowledge of contemporary technology.
• Communicate with the controls team and participate in meetings and technical support activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
