Job summary

GAF is seeking a Corporate Automation and Controls Engineer IV to provide technical leadership for control and automation systems across manufacturing plants. You will troubleshoot production-line issues, mentor plant controls personnel, and drive innovative, standards-based projects that span multiple facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Required.
• 5+ Years of Controls Engineering experience in a continuous manufacturing environment is required.
• 10+ Years of Controls Engineering experience in a continuous manufacturing environment preferred.
• Proficiency with Rockwell Automation software - Studio 5000, RSLogix 500, FTView, CCW, and FTAC.
• Proficiency selecting, configuring, and troubleshooting Allen Bradley PowerFlex variable frequency drives.
• HMI development experience - FTView and/or Wonderware.
• Experience with maintaining Production networks, including servers and managed switches.
• Expertise focused on electrical components, electrical power distribution systems, PLC’s, instrumentation, and variable speed AC drives.
• Demonstrated process control experience in defining, designing, installing, and maintaining control logic systems and equipment in a continuous process manufacturing environment
• Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plant engineering support: primary internal engineering resource concerning control systems.
• Identify opportunities to improve plant performance.
• Share best practices across the organization.
• Strategic project development: help create and maintain controls team standards.
• Share and enforce standards across the organization.
• Lead and facilitate strategic projects that cover multiple plants.
• Lead and facilitate new plants/processes.
• Plant support and troubleshooting: provide plant support where local personnel or regionals are struggling.
• Provide relevant training for control systems where applicable.
• Provide troubleshooting expertise through remote and onsite support.
• Provide ongoing technical guidance and coaching to plant controls personnel and regional engineers.
• Control Group Coordination: coordinate with controls group for information and Standards.
• Must maintain knowledge of contemporary technology and its application to this industry.
• Must communicate with controls team members through attendance at controls team meetings, conference calls, technical support.
• Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
