Job summary

The Federal Transit Administration’s Office of Chief Counsel seeks a Supervisory Attorney Advisor to lead the Litigation and Regional Operations team. The role supervises Regional Counsels, ensures consistent legal interpretations, and oversees environmental and grant-related matters across FTA regions.

Ideal candidates have a law degree, bar membership, and 5+ years of attorney experience, with strong advocacy and coordination skills for multi-agency work.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school and bar membership in good standing.
• At least 5 years of professional attorney experience.
• Experience with federal government contracts, administrative procedure, grant agreements, and environmental law.
• Strong oral advocacy and written briefing capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise Regional Counsels across ten regional offices regarding grant administration, contracts, and environmental law.
• Implement directives from Chief Counsel and leadership, ensuring consistent legal interpretations across regional offices.
• Manage environmental and historic preservation matters and coordinate regulatory guidance with related divisions and agencies.
• Represent FTA in complex federal litigation, coordinating with the Department of Justice and the Secretary's Office.
• Serve as primary contact for OIG on criminal matters including qui tam actions and investigations.
