Job summary

RSM US LLP is seeking a Senior Associate for its Real Estate Finance as a Service (FaaS) practice in the Chicago area. The role focuses on month-end close, financial reporting, and budgeting support for private middle-market real estate clients, leveraging cloud-based technology and close collaboration with CEOs, CFOs, and controllers.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance is required.
• Experience with property-level accounting and working with property managers is required.
• Experience with Real Estate technology systems (Yardi, MRI, etc.) is required.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.
• Ability to balance multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
• CPA or pursuit is preferred but not required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is expected.
• Strong analytical and decision-making abilities in a professional services context.

Responsibilities

• Serve as key contact for Purchase to Pay, Order to Cash, and Month End Close cycles.
• Work in client technology environments and with the FaaS tech stack.
• Mentor and coach client services staff and associates.
• Review monthly journal entries for prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accrued expenses, payroll, and inventory.
• Approve bank and GL reconciliations.
• Prepare/Review monthly financial statements and variance analyses.
• Analyze financial information to provide actionable insights to client management.
• Suggest process improvements to enhance monthly operations.
• Document repeatable methodologies and templates for future projects.
• Identify add-on processes and integrations to improve close efficiencies.
