Job summary

Level Agency is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to own the accounting engine for a growing performance marketing agency. You will lead the close, manage receivables and collections, oversee payables, and enforce expense compliance, turning inconsistent processes into clean, dependable workflows.

This hands-on role requires a sharp eye for detail, a proactive approach to process improvement, and the ability to communicate financial insights clearly to leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years progressive accounting experience incl. month-end close & AR/AP.
• CPA or active CPA candidacy preferred.
• Hands-on QuickBooks Online experience.
• Experience with Tipalti and Bill.com/Bill Spend & Expense.
• Proficiency in Google Workspace and cash forecasting.
• Experience using Claude to improve accounting workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end close and ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Manage accounts receivable and collections including complex exceptions.
• Oversee accounts payable including vendor onboarding and payments.
• Ensure expense reporting compliance and proper coding.
• Partner with Finance VP on cash flow forecasting.
• Support finance systems implementations and automation.
• Document and standardize accounting processes.
• Mentor accounting staff and strengthen team capacity.
• Respond to leadership questions with accurate analyses.
