Job summary

GrowthX AI, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Controller to build and own the Accounting function. You will stand up the function from the ground up, integrate an outsourced bookkeeping setup into a cohesive in‑house process, and own close, reporting, AR/collections, AP oversight, and revenue recognition.

You’ll report to the Head of Finance in a remote, async environment, tackle multi‑state tax exposure, and partner across the business to deliver accurate financials and strong controls.

Qualifications

• Experience as Controller or Assistant Controller, able to run the function independently.
• Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including ASC 606 revenue recognition.
• Experience building or maturing an accounting function from scratch.
• Familiarity with modern GL systems and automation in accounting workflows.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close, directing outsourced bookkeeping to in-house over time.
• Prepare GAAP‑compliant financial statements and analyze balance sheet and P&L movements.
• Own AR and collections: invoicing, aging, and customer follow-up.
• Own AP oversight and vendor management, including approval workflows.
• Work through ASC 606 revenue recognition, contract changes, and billing structures.
• Own core finance systems: Campfire, Carta, and billing stack; manage integrations.
• Develop processes, controls, and documentation for audit readiness.
• Review customer and vendor contracts for accounting and revenue implications.
• Manage equity administration: option grants and cap table accuracy.
• Support treasury activities: cash positioning and forecasting.
• Coordinate tax/compliance with external advisors.
• Partner with People Ops on payroll accounting and changes.
• Prepare monthly reporting packages for lenders/investors.
• Drive readiness for audits and institutional financing rounds.
