Job summary

Leoforce is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to lead the accounting function, oversee the general ledger, and ensure GAAP compliance within a federal contracting environment.

The role emphasizes close collaboration with executive leadership, Contracts, and Program Management to ensure timely financial reporting, audit readiness, and strong internal controls across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 7-10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• 4-6+ years of direct accounting management or supervisory experience.
• Strong hands-on general ledger experience.
• Working knowledge of FAR, DFARS and DCAA requirements strongly preferred.
• Experience with indirect rates, indirect cost pools, incurred cost submissions or government contract accounting highly valued.
• Experience supporting financial statement audits and/or DCAA audits.
• Strong understanding of internal controls, accounting policies and ERP system controls.
• Deltek Costpoint experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across accounting, Contracts, Program Management and executive leadership.

Responsibilities

• Oversee general ledger operations, including journal entries, account reconciliations, project accounting and indirect cost accounting.
• Manage monthly, quarterly and year-end close processes and ensure reporting deadlines are met.
• Review financial statements, supporting schedules and account activity for accuracy and completeness.
• Maintain strong balance sheet controls and ensure timely resolution of reconciling items.
• Oversee project and indirect cost allocation methodologies within a government contracting environment.
• Analyze indirect rates and support provisional billing rates, final rates and year-end true-ups.
• Prepare and support incurred cost submissions and related schedules.
• Ensure accounting practices remain compliant with GAAP, FAR, DFARS, DCAA requirements and internal policies.
• Serve as a key accounting contact for financial statement audits, DCAA audits and other external reviews.
• Support audit requests, schedules, documentation and follow-up items.
