Job summary

New York Power Authority in New York State seeks an experienced Operations leader to oversee daily management, asset, and risk across the generation and transmission business. You will drive capital budgets, oversee performance, and coordinate cross‑functional teams to optimize utility operations.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in engineering, 7 years in electric utility operations or 4 years military with utility exposure, and experience leading multi‑department projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or equivalent technical field.
• 7+ years in electric utility power plant operations or 4 years in military with utility experience.
• Experience collaborating across multi-department or multi-site projects.
• Experience building and leading diverse teams.
• P.E. license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop employees, including performance management and workload balancing.
• Support bargaining unit agreement implementation and labor relations.
• Develop and monitor short-, mid-, and long-term asset plans and budgets.
• Conduct risk analysis and create risk response plans.
• Identify and initiate strategic asset optimization projects.
• Evaluate project options via UOPP and assist with business cases.
• Lead use of digital systems to enhance asset management and reporting.
• Provide site leadership and cross-department liaison.
• Ensure adherence to asset management policies and procedures.
