Job summary

The New York Power Authority seeks a Senior Project Manager with substantial experience in managing complex electrical, mechanical, or civil projects. You will lead cross-functional teams, supervise contractors, and ensure safety, quality, and on-time delivery aligned with utility standards.

Responsibilities include overseeing all project lifecycle stages, coordinating internal and external resources, and ensuring compliance with licensing, environmental, and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Energy Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 8 years total experience including at least 5 years in Project/Construction Management.
• New York State P.E. License required, or P.E. license from another state with anticipated NY endorsement within 12 months.
• For the Engineering department, NYS P.E. License or equivalent; optional advanced PM certifications within 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all stages of the project lifecycle from initiation to close-out for highly complex projects or programs.
• Coordinate internal and external resources for project delivery and procurement.
• Ensure licensing, environmental, permitting, safety, code compliance, and stakeholder input are integrated.
• Develop and manage design documents, budgets, forecasts, and bid documents; evaluate proposals and award contracts.
• Negotiate contract changes and coordinate construction sequencing and site outages.
• Review project documentation: drawings, specs, risk registers, schedules, and invoices.
• Supervise maintenance staff and contractors; ensure safe work practices and data recording.
