Job summary

ECS is seeking an experienced Specification Writer to join our Southwest Facilities team in Dallas, TX. You will guide design teams on product selection, prepare and edit construction specifications, ensure compliance with codes, and coordinate with architects, engineers, and consultants throughout all project phases.

The role requires strong detail orientation, solid architectural knowledge, and the ability to coordinate with architects, engineers, and consultants while keeping up with evolving

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's in Architecture/Construction/Engineering preferred.
• 6 years of related architectural or commercial interiors experience.
• 3+ years writing/editing AIA MasterFormat 3-part specifications.
• CSI membership; CDT/CCS/LEED AP a plus.
• Valid driver's license required when driving for ECS subsidiaries.

Responsibilities

• Manage specification projects across project phases.
• Guide design teams on product selection and design considerations.
• Write and edit specifications; ensure compliance with project requirements and codes.
• Prepare construction specifications for each phase and milestone deliverables.
• Prepare and review procurement and contracting requirements (Division 01).
• Coordinate consultant specs with firm standards and project manual conventions.
• Conduct product research; assist designers with material selections.
• Coordinate with internal project architects and other disciplines in specs.
• Stay current on building technology, codes, and industry trends.
• Assist construction administration with submittals review and substitution requests.
• Handle multiple projects; meet deadlines; work independently and in teams.
• Host or attend project discussions with clients; follow up on reports.
