Job summary

ECS Group of Companies in Austin, TX seeks an experienced Specification Writer III to join our Southwest Building Science + Infrastructure team. You’ll research materials, develop detailed specifications, and ensure alignment with codes and project requirements.

Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project teams to manage specification projects and educate design teams. This role requires mastery of MasterFormat, strong research skills, and precision in coordinating across disciplines

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Building Science or related field preferred.
• 8+ years of architectural and specification writing experience.
• Minimum 6 years architectural or commercial interiors.
• Minimum 3 years writing, editing, and developing AIA MasterFormat 3-part specifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead teams in researching product materials and manufacturers for architectural projects.
• Write and edit specifications for projects and coordinate compliance with codes and firm standards.
• Coordinate consultant technical specifications with project teams.
• Prepare Division 01 General Requirements sections.
• Review submittals and substitution requests for compliance with specifications.
• Maintain awareness of evolving building technology and code changes.
