Job summary

ECS is seeking an experienced Specification Writer to join our Southwest Facilities team in Austin, TX. In this role, you’ll guide design teams on product selection, prepare and edit construction specifications, ensure compliance with codes and standards, and coordinate with architects, engineers, and consultants throughout all project phases.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering Technology or related field preferred.
• 6 years of related architectural or commercial interiors experience; minimum 3 years in writing, editing, and developing AIA MasterFormat - 3 part specifications.
• CSI membership; CDT certification is a plus; CCS, LEED AP, or a licensed Architect or Engineer is a plus.
• If driving for ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Guide design teams on product selection and prepare/edit construction specifications.
• Review drawings and project information to write specs and coordinate with project requirements and codes.
• Plan, schedule, organize, and prepare construction specifications for project milestones.
• Prepare and review procurement and contracting requirements, including Division 01 General Requirements.
• Coordinate and review consultant specifications for conformance with firm standards and formatting conventions.
• Perform product research and assist project designers with material selections.
• Coordinate with internal architects and other disciplines in specs and project manual prep.
• Maintain awareness of evolving building technology and industry trends.
