Job summary

SSOE is seeking a Senior Architect with extensive experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and life sciences facilities to lead complex design efforts from concept through construction. You will drive cGMP manufacturing suites, pilot plants, and R&D labs, ensuring regulatory compliance and high-quality documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited program.
• Active Registered Architect (RA) license in good standing within the U.S.
• 10+ years of architectural experience in pharma/biotech/life sciences facilities with GMP focus.
• Strong leadership and design delivery experience in design-build environments.
• Proficiency in Revit; working knowledge of AutoCAD, Navisworks, Bluebeam.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural design and planning for complex pharmaceutical and life sciences projects (cGMP suites, labs, R&D spaces, warehouses).
• Provide technical leadership to internal project teams and ensure high-quality construction documents.
• Coordinate with engineering disciplines for holistic design and GMP compliance.
• Interpret and apply IBC, NFPA, ADA/ABA codes in lab and production environments.
• Lead peer reviews and QA/QC with emphasis on GMP, cleanroom integrity, and contamination control.
• Collaborate with process engineers, validation teams, and C&Q in a design-build setting.
• Develop design concepts, regulatory strategies, and risk assessments for clients.
