Job summary

CannonDesign is seeking an Architect to lead design and technical work across disciplines in the Chicago, IL or Pittsburgh, PA offices. You will coordinate with engineers, lead detailing, and ensure integrated deliverables while upholding code compliance.

The role includes mentoring team members, driving design intent, supporting business development, and advancing sustainable design and project efficiency across assignments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in architecture or related field.
• 8+ years of professional experience.
• Current Architectural Registration in the United States.
• CDT and LEED accreditation preferred.
• Knowledge of building codes.
• Strong business acumen and critical thinking.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Strong technical coordination skills.
• Proficiency with Revit, Enscape, Bluebeam, MS Office, and Adobe Creative Suite.

Responsibilities

• Lead elements of design, production, coordination, and detailing.
• Coordinate with engineers and consultants; align with Design Leadership; coordinate with team on project documents.
• Prepare design sketches of site plans.
• Communicate project status, design intent, construction updates, and other information clearly to owners, consultants, and clients.
• Participate in Business Development with Marketing and Office Leadership to help grow revenue.
• Perform field site observations and site walks as needed.
• Integrate performance-based and sustainable design strategies into solutions.
• Contribute to QA/QC process and ensure statutory requirements are met.
