Job summary

Indeed is seeking a Software Engineer VI to act as a Technical Fellow for the Interop space, owning architectural direction across external integrations with ATS/HRIS partners. You will partner with senior engineers, product leads, and executives to set technical strategy and ensure scalable, reliable B2B integrations.

In this role you will document decisions, guide system evolution, and mentor a team of 40–50 engineers while translating feedback into platform improvements.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field and a minimum of 15 years of related experience; or a Master's degree with a minimum of 12 years of experience; or a PhD with 8 years experience
• Experience designing and evolving service-oriented architectures, distributed systems, APIs, and data platforms (SQL and NoSQL).
• Experience applying AI/ML capabilities and AI-assisted engineering practices to accelerate architecture, development velocity, and integration quality at scale.
• Demonstrated ownership and accountability as a principal technical and product contributor.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence technical direction across engineering, product, and executive audiences.

Responsibilities

• Own architectural assessment and simplification efforts across multiple teams or domains.
• Partner with senior engineers, technical leaders, and business partners to guide architectural decisions and system evolution.
• Establish and promote effective mechanisms for documenting and communicating architectural decisions and trade-offs.
• Translate architectural needs and user feedback into improvements for shared platforms, tools, or processes.
• Contribute code and design improvements to internal systems as appropriate, setting a high bar for quality and maintainability.
• Influence architectural standards and best practices across the engineering organization through collaboration and example.
