Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Chicago (US) is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to lead civil design teams across diverse projects, including power, healthcare, and government facilities. You will guide design from concept through construction, manage budgets and schedules, and mentor junior staff.

You will review drawings, coordinate with vendors and other disciplines, ensure QA/QC, and participate in business development and cost proposals. Strong CAD/analysis skills and an FE/PE pathway are preferred.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited civil engineering degree with 7+ years of civil engineering experience.
• Or civil/related degree with FE and 7 years of experience.
• Or MS in civil engineering with 6 years of experience.
• EPC project experience preferred.
• Expert knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
• Strong CAD/analysis tools proficiency; excellent communication.
• Experience leading discipline design for large projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil design of projects from concept through design completion.
• Prepare civil equipment packages and data sheets.
• Review vendor drawings and interface with suppliers and clients.
• Participate in project scheduling, scope, budget, and staffing.
• Manage change orders and QA/QC processes.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to engineers.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies and standards.
• Develop cost proposals and qualification statements.
• Prepare and present technical reports for clients.
• Build relationships with clients and pursue new opportunities.
