Job summary

ERM is seeking a Principal Consultant, Archaeologist to lead complex cultural resources projects from a US office, mentoring teams and strengthening client relationships. The role combines technical leadership, project oversight, and business development across a national scope in energy and infrastructure sectors.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or closely related field, or equivalent experience.
• 6–8 years of related paid experience.
• Secretary of the Interior-qualified archaeologist listed as a Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA).
• Demonstrated field experience and principal-level oversight for projects (inventory, survey, testing, data recovery).
• Experience as primary author and/or third-party reviewer on agency-reviewed technical reports (Class I/III, NEPA sections, CRTPs).
• Experience with regulatory agency interactions as a consultant representing client interests.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a permitted BLM Principal Investigator.
• Obtain BLM Cultural Resources Use Permits and other necessary permits.
• Provide technical QA/QC review of deliverables.
• Oversee desktop studies and field investigations (reconnaissance, pedestrian surveys, testing, excavations, monitoring).
• Lead and manage archaeologists across experience levels (hiring, mentoring, training, engagement).
• Coordinate with unit leads and directors to support performance and delivery.
• Represent ERM in client, partner, subcontractor, and regulatory meetings.
