Job summary

ERM is seeking a Principal Consultant, Archaeologist to lead nationwide cultural resources projects from our US office, driving technical excellence, project leadership, and business growth.

The role includes mentoring archaeologists, QA/QC of deliverables, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to support energy and infrastructure clients while expanding ERM’s market presence.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field (required).
• 6–8 years of paid archaeology experience.
• RPA certification required.
• Lead inventory, survey, testing, and data recovery efforts.
• Experience authoring or reviewing agency reports (NEPA, Class I/III).
• Experience with regulatory agencies.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to travel to field sites.
• Experience with field mapping tech like GPS, ArcGIS.

Responsibilities

• Serve as signing Principal Investigator and lead cultural resources studies.
• Obtain required BLM and other permits for projects.
• Provide QA/QC on deliverables prepared by archaeologists.
• Oversee desktop and field investigations including surveys and excavations.
• Lead and mentor archaeologists, support hiring and training.
• Collaborate with business unit leads to drive delivery and growth.
• Represent ERM with clients, partners, and regulators.
