Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Archaeologist to support planning, engineering, and construction projects across the western United States. The role focuses on NHPA and NEPA compliance with opportunities to lead teams, mentor staff, and manage major cultural resource programs.

You may work hybrid, remote, or from an office, with travel to various states. A Master’s degree and 10+ years of field experience are required, along with PI experience and GPS skills.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Anthropology or Archaeology and professional qualifications per SOI archaeologist standards.
• Minimum of 10 years of professional archaeological fieldwork experience.
• 3–5 years of experience as a Principal Investigator.
• Ability to walk long distances over uneven terrain and carry field equipment.
• Willingness to travel frequently and for extended periods; GPS experience required.

Responsibilities

• Lead discipline-specific topics and coordinate updates on regulatory changes.
• Provide staff leadership, mentorship, and timely feedback to teams.
• Forecast workload and advise on staffing for large projects.
• Manage large, complex cultural resource projects for diverse clients.
• Serve as primary client contact for major programs and sensitive projects.
• Support business development and cross-geography coordination.
