Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a dynamic aquatics coordinator to oversee program development at assigned centers, ensuring high standards of safety, youth development, and healthy living. The role includes staff supervision, class scheduling, and budget coordination.

The successful candidate will manage lifeguard, swim instruction, and First Aid/CPR trainings, develop partnerships, and contribute to marketing and events. Flexible hours and local travel are possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.
• One to two years related experience preferred; for example, as an aquatics coordinator or supervisor.
• Minimum age requirement of 21.
• Required certifications: CPR, First Aid, AED, Bloodborne Pathogens; Lifeguard certifications and YMCA program-specific trainer certifications must be completed within six months where possible.

Responsibilities

• Directs and supervises program activities to meet YMCA objectives and expands programs within the community.
• Recruits, hires, trains, and directs personnel and volunteers; reviews staff performance; maintains certifications.
• Monitors daily pool operations for safety and regulatory compliance; maintains pool records and reports.
• Conducts lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR trainings.
• Creates and schedules swim and water fitness classes and swim team practices.
• Assists in marketing and distribution of program information and in budget development.
• Participates in fundraising activities and special events; responds to inquiries in a timely manner.
• Maintains aquatic records, safety drills, and testing; ensures staff are familiar with emergency action plans.
• Attends Aquatics Cabinets Meetings; may oversee other program areas.

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in related field
