Job summary

YMCA is seeking a qualified aquatics leader to develop and implement high-quality member- and community-focused programs. You will direct staff, recruit volunteers, and maintain pool safety and operations while expanding offerings such as swim lessons and water fitness classes.

The role requires certifications (CPO, lifeguard, CPR/First Aid) and leadership experience, with a focus on protocol adherence, sanitation, and program growth within the branch.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree preferred; in lieu of degree, high school diploma with 2-3 years related work experience.
• Minimum of three years supervision/leadership experience preferred.
• Certified Pool Operator required; may be obtained within 90 days of employment.
• Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification required.
• Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor Certifications preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire.
• YMCA program and safety trainings must be completed within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and YMCA objectives and goals.
• Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and directs personnel and volunteers as needed; reviews staff performance.
• Maintains pool operations, sanitation, and safety compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Creates and schedules aquatics programs (swim lessons, water fitness, swim team) and monitors participation.
• Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance.
• Assists in marketing and distribution of program information and in fund-raising activities.
