Job summary

Wesco seeks a Senior Application Engineer to join the Grid Services team. You will support technical sales proposals for high voltage substation projects, products, systems, and services and act as the engineering point person for the RFQ process through installation and commissioning.

You will lead technical proposal development, collaborate with customers and vendors, and ensure compliant, cost-effective solutions while expanding opportunities in the market.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field; Master's preferred.
• 5–7 years of experience in networking and infrastructure sales in medium or large companies.
• 5–7 years of experience using networking and infrastructure products.
• Experience in leading or directing teams.
• Expertise in infrastructure, industrial cabling, or power systems products.
• Ability to obtain vendor certifications for specialized products.
• Leadership: clear vision and direction; mobilize people.
• Communication: effective verbal and written communication.
• Facilitating: organize multidisciplinary workshops.
• Change management: drive change and overcome resistance.
• Coaching: develop people to achieve objectives.
• Training: identify training needs and ensure execution.
• Ability to travel 25%–50%.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical pre-sales support and product selection guidance.
• Develops technical proposals with specs, costs, and BOMs.
• Serves as engineering point person through RFQ, install and commissioning.
• Coordinates with customers, Wesco, and vendors on system design.
• Delivers high-quality proposals that meet specs and are cost-competitive.
• Maintains relationships with vendor product managers and selling resources.
• Identifies growth opportunities through market understanding.
