Job summary

City of Atlanta is seeking a Facilities Grounds Technician III to maintain airport grounds and exterior facilities, coordinating daily work across secured and unsecured areas to ensure safety, cleanliness and visual appeal for passengers and staff.

Responsibilities include mowing, edging, debris removal, equipment inspections, and weatherproofing projects, plus leading staff and responding to emergencies while following safety regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least five years of grounds or landscaping experience.
• AMA Certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform and lead advanced grounds maintenance activities, including mowing, edging, trimming, debris removal, pressure washing, and seasonal landscape upkeep.
• Conduct routine visual inspections of airport grounds, roadways, sidewalks, parking areas, medians, and landscaped spaces to identify safety hazards, maintenance needs, and service deficiencies.
• Coordinate and support special grounds and exterior facility projects, including surface sealing, pressure washing, weatherproofing, and response activities during inclement weather events.
• Provide grounds support during airport emergencies or weather-related events by securing affected areas, removing hazards, and assisting operational response efforts.
• Operate heavy equipment and grounds maintenance machinery, including mowers, sweepers, loaders, tractors, skid steers, dump trucks, and related attachments.
