Job summary

McFarland Johnson (MJ) seeks a Senior Resident Engineer to lead construction oversight on complex airport projects across the Northeast. Based in MJ's offices, you will be the primary field contact for clients and contractors, directing inspection teams and coordinating with design teams on runway, taxiway, and apron work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 12+ years of experience in construction inspection/engineering or similar.
• Airport construction experience preferred; highway exposure valued.
• Proficiency in reading and applying engineering drawings and specs.
• Travel to project sites across the Northeast required.

Responsibilities

• Lead onsite construction oversight to ensure compliance with plans, specs, and contract requirements.
• Serve as primary field contact for contractors, airport staff, inspection personnel, and MJ project teams.
• Direct and coordinate field inspection teams, providing guidance and reviewing documentation.
• Oversee progress, performance, schedules, and material testing; resolve issues.
• Oversee daily reports, photos, quantities, and project records; review payments and change orders.
