Job summary

McFarland Johnson, an employee-owned engineering firm, seeks a Senior Resident Engineer with 12+ years of experience to lead construction oversight on complex airport projects in the Northeast. You’ll serve as the primary field contact for clients and contractors and mentor inspection teams.

Based in MJ's Northeast offices, you’ll manage runway, taxiway, and related infrastructure, coordinating with project managers and design teams, while traveling to various airport sites and maintaining

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in construction inspection, construction engineering, resident engineering, or related field.
• Ability to lead field teams on complex civil infrastructure projects including pavement, drainage, utilities.
• FAA or state DOT construction knowledge preferred; strong documentation and contract administration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead onsite construction oversight and ensure compliance with plans, specs, and contract.
• Serve as primary field contact for contractors, airport staff, and project teams.
• Direct and coordinate inspection teams with mentoring and review of records.
• Oversee progress, workmanship, schedules, and material testing; resolve issues in the field.
• Coordinate RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project closeout activities.
