Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Senior Staff AI Engineer to join the Intelligent Foundations and Experiences team. This remote-eligible role partners with engineers, researchers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products that transform how associates work and how customers interact with Capital One.

You'll design and deploy AI software components, including foundation model training and LLM inference, across a broad open-source and SaaS stack.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's with 8–10+ years in AI/ML development
• Experience 10+ years in Python/others as listed
• Proven ability to marshal cross-functional teams and communicate complex AI concepts

Responsibilities

• Partner with engineers, researchers, PMs to deliver AI-powered products
• Design, develop, test, deploy AI software components incl. model training and inference
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI tech stacks
• Invent optimization techniques for performance, scalability, latency and cost
• Contribute to technical vision and long-term AI architecture at Capital One
• Define and steer AI architecture with reliability and scale
• Lead AI safety and transparency standards across the org
• Drive multi-year platform initiatives for data, compute and model lifecycle
• Mentor senior technical leaders across research, data and engineering
