Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Senior Staff AI Engineer (Remote Eligible) to lead the design, development, and deployment of AI-powered systems at scale. You will partner with engineers, researchers, PMs, and product managers to deliver impactful AI capabilities that transform how customers and associates interact with Capital One’s services.

The role emphasizes building responsible, high‑performance AI infrastructure, innovative model optimization, and governance to ensure safety and reliability

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields plus at least 10 years of experience developing AI/ML algorithms or technologies
• At least 10 years of experience programming with Python, Go, Scala, CUDA, or Java

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI technologies in production systems
• Invent and optimize foundation model techniques for performance and cost
• Contribute to the long-term AI infrastructure roadmap
• Define and steer the AI architecture vision and governance standards
• Mentor senior technical leaders across research, data and engineering
