Job summary

Capital One is hiring a Senior Staff AI Engineer (Remote Eligible) to lead AI foundations and scalable ML platforms, partnering with engineers, scientists, PMs, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products for customers and associates.

You will design and optimize foundation models, inference, and agent workflows using AWS, HuggingFace, VectorDBs, PyTorch, and more, while mentoring senior engineers and guiding multi-year AI infrastructure strategy with a focus on safety and governance.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of experience developing AI/ML algorithms or technologies.
• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a relevant field with substantial AI/ML expertise.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components (foundation model training, inference, agents).
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI tech stacks (AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, PyTorch).
• Invent and apply model optimization techniques for performance, cost, and latency.
• Contribute to the long-term AI architecture roadmap and governance standards.
