Job summary

Decagon is seeking an experienced software engineer to help build the AI-native developer platform. You will work at the intersection of distributed systems, developer tooling, and applied AI, turning innovative agent workflows into dependable systems used across the engineering org.

This is a highly product-oriented platform role. You will partner with engineers to identify high-value automation opportunities and own solutions from architecture through rollout and production operation.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience building production software, particularly backend, infrastructure, platform, or developer tooling.
• Strong programming in Python, TypeScript, or another systems language.
• Designed and operated APIs, services, or platforms that other engineers depend on.
• Understanding of distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, containers, and production reliability.
• Took technically complex projects from ambiguous problems to production systems.
• Care about developer experience and turning infrastructure into simple abstractions.
• Ability to move quickly while maintaining correctness, security, and operational quality.
• Clear communication with engineers who use what you build.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate the core platform behind agent-driven software development at Decagon.
• Lead ambitious platform projects from ideation through design, implementation, rollout, and evolution.
• Turn experiments into secure, reusable abstractions for engineering adoption.
• Partner with engineers across the company to identify bottlenecks and drive solutions.
• Improve software development speed and quality via better agent tooling, testing, review, and automation.
• Own the reliability, observability, security, performance, and cost of the systems you build.
• Help define how Decagon engineers and autonomous agents build and operate production software.
