Job summary

Docker is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build AI-powered developer tools and the platform behind them on the AI Developer Tools team. You will design, build, and operate AI agents that boost productivity and automate workflows across the development lifecycle.

You will work at the intersection of AI, developer experience, and platform engineering, collaborating with Senior Managers, Principal, and Staff engineers to deliver scalable, secure solutions in a remote-first setup.

Qualifications

6+ years of software engineering experience, building and operating production systems.
Hands-on experience building LLM-powered applications, AI agents, or AI-assisted developer tools.
Working knowledge of LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic) and prompt engineering.
Experience with scalable backend services, distributed systems, or developer-facing platforms.
Cloud-native infrastructure experience, including Kubernetes and observability tools.
Proficiency in Go, Rust, Java, or Python with strong fundamentals.
Experience shipping developer tools or platform services used by other engineers.
Strong product judgment, clear communication, and ability to work asynchronously in a distributed team.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and operate production AI agents for developer productivity (code review assistants, test generators, deployment diagnostics, incident response automation).
Integrate LLM providers and agent orchestration frameworks into reliable tools following team standards.
Build systems enabling Docker engineers to adopt AI-native development tools.
Create integrations between AI tools and CI/CD, observability platforms, and deployment systems.
Instrument tools to measure adoption, effectiveness, and developer satisfaction.
