Workday's AI Tools team is seeking a senior engineer who thrives at the intersection of AI, platform engineering, and developer experience. You'll design and build systems used by thousands of Workday engineers daily, from LLM gateways to AI-native agents and compliance tooling.

You will collaborate with internal teams, participate in office hours, and mentor others while shaping how emerging AI capabilities are integrated into our platform and workflows.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• 3+ years building and operating backend services or platform infrastructure in production.
• Strong proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience building or integrating with LLM APIs and prompt engineering.
• Robust understanding of AI security principles and responsible AI practices.
• Genuine excitement about leading edge AI and adapting to new models.

Responsabilités

• Design and build the AI platform layer: LLM gateways, MCP registries, APIs, and shared infra.
• Architect and implement AI agents and automation to improve developer workflows (code review, docs, testing).
• Drive evaluation and integration of AI model providers, balancing cost, safety, and performance.
• Lead technical design on cross-cutting projects with Security, DevEx, and infra teams.
• Build observability and governance tooling to monitor AI usage and policy enforcement.
• Operationalize AI policy and compliance requirements within the platform.
