Job summary

EY is building Challenger, a program to develop next‑generation AI services. We seek a senior architect to define the AI platform, enable portable model access, observability, and elastic infrastructure across cloud and edge environments.

You will guide platform teams, balance trade-offs, and drive reliability, cost, and performance while mentoring engineers and SREs. Up to 50% travel and hybrid office options available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 9–12+ years of relevant experience.
• Substantial experience designing and operating cloud, infrastructure, SRE, or platform capabilities.
• A record of building a shared platform adopted by multiple product teams with measurable improvements.
• Deep experience in at least one major cloud and portable patterns for hybrid/multi-cloud constraints.
• Hands-on depth in orchestration, networking, identity, IaC, delivery automation, APIs, and production observability.
• Experience operating model-serving and AI lifecycle capabilities, including release controls and capacity planning.
• Demonstrated build-versus-buy judgment and clear operational, commercial, and technical consequences.
• Experience leading complex programs and mentoring to raise engineering capability.
• Up to 50% travel and hybrid on-site requirements.

Responsibilities

• Set the platform direction and establish architect standards across cloud, hybrid, and edge.
• Run the platform as a product with defined service tiers and adoption metrics.
• Enable portable model access with gateways and stable contracts.
• Architect elastic compute, storage, and networking for AI workloads.
• Automate delivery with progressive release and evidence in the process.
• Define secure runtimes and trusted agent environments.
• Engineer reliability with service objectives and observability patterns.
• Connect usage and quality signals to improve unit economics.
• Guide build-versus-buy and portability decisions with stakeholders.
• Mentor platform engineers and SREs to promote reusable production patterns.
