Job summary

BNY Mellon seeks a Senior Director, Engineering Group Leader to guide the Enterprise Onboarding team across Pittsburgh, NY, or Jersey City. You will lead design, development, and deployment of scalable AI-enabled software and mentor a global engineering group.

You will shape architecture decisions, drive SDLC/PDLC practices, and partner with stakeholders to deliver executable delivery plans. Strong AI focus and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or equivalent work experience.
• 12-15 years total experience with 3-5 years of management preferred.
• At least five years of software engineering experience with hands-on development.
• Experience delivering enterprise software and AI solutions in complex environments.
• Strong knowledge of Agile delivery, SDLC and PDLC frameworks.
• Deep understanding of AI engineering patterns; ML background preferred.
• Hands-on knowledge of AI/ML architecture across training and inference.
• Platform engineering skills: APIs, microservices, cloud, CI/CD, observability.
• Experience with AI platforms or internal enablement products.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, testing, and deployment of scalable AI software solutions.
• Serve as hands-on engineer contributing to architecture, coding, testing, and release management.
• Lead and develop a small, global engineering team with focus on execution and excellence.
• Drive disciplined practices across SDLC, PDLC, Agile delivery, and product operating model.
• Partner with stakeholders to translate needs into technical solutions and delivery plans.
• Champion AI-enabled tools and practices to improve productivity and quality.
• Balance strategic objectives with day-to-day delivery, planning, and issue resolution.
• Coach engineers and foster a culture of continuous learning.
