Job summary

BNY is seeking a Senior Director, Engineering Group Leader to join the Enterprise Transformation Engineering team in Pittsburgh, PA or New York, NY. This senior role combines strategic leadership with hands-on engineering, driving architecture, development, testing, and release management across initiatives.

You will lead a small, global engineering team, champion disciplined SDLC/PDLC and Agile practices, and collaborate with product and business stakeholders to deliver high-impact software

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or equivalent work experience.
• 12-15 years total experience with 3-5 years of management experience preferred.
• At least five years of software engineering experience, including hands-on development.
• Experience with Apptio and/or Targetprocess (TPro).
• Experience in a large, complex enterprise environment, preferably financial services.
• Experience leading or managing a small, high-performing global engineering team.
• Strong knowledge of Agile delivery, SDLC, and PDLC frameworks.
• Experience applying AI-enabled software development tools, workflows, and productivity practices.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Proven ability to deliver effectively in a dynamic, outcome-focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, testing, and deployment of scalable software solutions.
• Act as a hands-on engineer contributing to architecture, coding, reviews, and release management.
• Lead and develop a small, global engineering team with focus on execution and collaboration.
• Drive disciplined SDLC and PDLC practices and agile delivery.
• Partner with product and business stakeholders to translate needs into actionable plans.
• Champion AI-enabled development tools to boost productivity and quality.
• Balance strategic objectives with day-to-day delivery and planning.
• Coach and mentor engineers to build technical capability and continuous learning.
