Job summary

BNY Mellon is seeking a Director, Application Development Manager for the Client Tax team. The role is based in Pittsburgh, PA, Lake Mary, FL, or Jersey City, NJ, and involves leading engineering strategy, delivering scalable full-stack apps, and guiding AI-powered capabilities.

You will mentor engineers, establish best practices, and collaborate with product, operations, security, and other stakeholders to ensure compliant, high-quality solutions that meet evolving business priorities.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in computer science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
• 12+ years of experience in systems analysis and program development with supervisory, management and administrative experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, SQL, and RESTful and streaming-based APIs.
• Hands-on experience delivering cloud-native solutions, including microservices, containerization, and modern deployment patterns.
• Working knowledge of NoSQL and distributed data stores at scale.
• Experience leveraging AI-enabled capabilities, including GenAI or ML-driven services, to enhance productivity and outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and strategy for application development across the Client Tax team.
• Establish engineering best practices, coding standards, and architectural patterns for long-term agility and reuse.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable full-stack applications using modern frameworks (React, Java) and platforms (Oracle, Kafka, Snowflake).
• Lead AI-powered capabilities leveraging LLMs, vector databases, and orchestration frameworks.
• Mentor engineers, promote code quality, and foster ownership and continuous learning.
• Collaborate with product, operations, engineering, and security teams to deliver compliant solutions.
