Job summary

Premera Blue Cross in the United States is seeking an AI Engineer IV to lead the design, development, and deployment of AI/ML solutions for complex business problems. You will mentor engineers, prototype new AI products, and guide ethical AI practices while shaping scalable AI infrastructure.

This is a remote position from home. You will collaborate with stakeholders, design cloud architectures, build data pipelines, and deliver low-latency APIs, all within an Agile-like team and a broad total

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, or related field, or 2+ years in IT/analytics.
• Minimum of 5 years in developing, deploying, and maintaining AI/ML systems.
• At least 6 years of experience in deep learning with TensorFlow, PyTorch, MLX, or JAX.
• Experience implementing ethical AI with explainability, fairness, and bias mitigation.
• At least 3 years using Retrieval Augmented Generation, Tree of Thoughts, or Multimodal CoT in prompts.
• 4+ years productionizing AI models with scalable data pipelines and monitoring.
• 5+ years in Agile-like teams and environments.
• Proven architecture experience with CNNs, transformers, GANs, LSTMs, and related models.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, microservices, containers, and distributed systems.
• Proficiency with Python and libraries like NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, scikit-learn.

Responsibilities

• Recommend and develop AI systems and frameworks for AI applications and products.
• Lead prototypes and MVPs to validate AI/ML solutions before major resources.
• Assist in designing cloud architecture for large AI systems.
• Design robust data pipelines for large AI workloads.
• Develop low-latency APIs and services to deploy AI models.
• Develop monitoring for AI systems to ensure performance.
• Mentor AI engineers and promote best practices.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align AI with business value and governance.
