Job summary

Premera Blue Cross seeks an AI Engineer IV to lead AI/ML initiatives from conception to production, guiding complex problem solving and prototyping new AI products. You will mentor engineers and drive innovative AI systems with strong software engineering foundations.

The role emphasizes deploying ML algorithms, scalable data pipelines, and robust AI infrastructure, while aligning with governance, ethics, and data quality; remote work is supported.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field OR 2+ years of related IT/analytics experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of industry experience in developing, deploying, and maintaining AI/ML systems.
• At least 6 years of experience developing deep learning models using TensorFlow, PyTorch, MLX, JAX, or other modern deep learning frameworks.
• Experience implementing ethical AI practices with explainability, fairness, and bias mitigation.
• Experience in productionizing AI models with scalable data pipelines and monitoring.
• 5+ years working in Agile-like teams and environments.
• Proficiency in Python and libraries like NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, scikit-learn.
• Familiarity with building minimal interfaces to interact with AI products and governance.

Responsibilities

• Recommend and develop comprehensive AI systems and frameworks for applications and products.
• Lead prototyping of AI/ML solutions to validate concepts before major resource commitments.
• Assist in designing cloud architecture for large multi-faceted AI systems.
• Design and scaffold robust data pipelines driving complex AI systems.
• Develop low latency APIs/services to deploy AI models into applications.
• Create monitoring for AI systems to ensure reliable performance.
• Contribute to agile-like development practices and thorough documentation.
• Provide thought leadership on AI strategies and infrastructure roadmaps.
