Job summary

Premera Blue Cross is seeking an AI Engineer IV to lead and shape AI/ML initiatives from ideation to production. You will mentor engineers, design scalable AI systems, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver business value while ensuring governance and quality.

You'll apply deep learning, ML infrastructure, and agile-like practices to build reliable pipelines, optimize models, and drive innovation across teams in a remote capacity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field, or 2+ years in IT/analytics.
• Minimum of 5 years developing, deploying, and maintaining AI/ML systems.
• 5+ years experience with DL models (TensorFlow, PyTorch, MLX, JAX or similar).
• Knowledge of ethical AI, explainability, fairness, and bias mitigation (≥3 years).
• Experience with Retrieval Augmented Generation, Tree of Thoughts, or Multimodal CoT in prompts.
• 4+ years productionizing AI models with scalable data pipelines and monitoring.
• 5+ years working in Agile-like teams.
• Experience with CNNs, Transformers, GANs, LSTMs, NODEs, etc.
• Software design patterns, microservices, distributed computing, containers.

Responsibilities

• Recommend and develop AI system frameworks for applications and products.
• Lead prototype development and MVP validation for AI/ML solutions.
• Design and implement cloud architecture for large AI systems.
• Build robust data pipelines for complex AI workloads.
• Develop APIs and services to deploy ML models with low latency.
• Code monitoring for AI models and systems to ensure performance.
• Engage in agile-like development practices and maintain documentation.
• Provide AI/ML guidance to engineers and leadership.
