Job summary

Premera Blue Cross is seeking an AI Engineer IV to lead and mentor a team building AI/ML solutions from concept to production. You will guide solutioning, prototype new AI products, and help design cloud architectures and robust data pipelines for scalable models.

The role emphasizes deep learning with TensorFlow/PyTorch, productionalizing models, ethical AI, and collaborating with stakeholders to drive business value while adhering to governance standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 2+ years in IT/analytics position.
• Minimum 5 years in AI/ML systems development, deployment, and maintenance.
• 5+ years experience producing deep learning models with TF, PyTorch, or similar.
• Experience with ethical AI practices: explainability, fairness, bias mitigation.
• 3+ years in Retrieval Augmented Generation / prompt engineering and leadership.
• 4+ years productionizing AI models with scalable data pipelines and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Lead ideation and prototype development for AI products.
• Guide design of scalable AI infrastructure and data pipelines.
• Develop low-latency APIs for deploying AI models into applications.
• Mentor junior engineers and enforce best practices.
• Collaborate on AI governance, roadmaps, and external stakeholder alignment.
• Document procedures and maintain team-wide consistency.
