Job summary

Alation, Inc. seeks a Senior Staff Forward Deployed Engineer to partner with Fortune 500 customers and engineering teams on AI-driven data governance solutions. You’ll prototype AI agent systems, deliver production-grade pipelines, and influence platform roadmaps with real-world edge cases and patterns.

Strong leadership and hands-on coding are essential to ship fast and scale responsibly. You will mentor field engineers, work across Product, GTM, and Engineering, and own architectural decisions

Qualifications

• 12+ years in software engineering, with customer-facing technical leadership roles such as FDE, Solutions Architect, or CTO-office equivalents.
• Deep hands-on experience with LLM orchestration frameworks including LangChain, AutoGen, and CrewAI, as well as vector databases, RAG architectures, and fine-tuning ML models for enterprise use cases.
• Proven track record delivering large-scale BI and data pipeline solutions, comfortable with SQL and cloud warehousing as with predictive modeling.

Responsibilities

• Architect and prototype AI agent systems, including LLM-based, multi-agent, and agentic workflow designs.
• Embed with Fortune 500 stakeholders to translate data ecosystems and governance bottlenecks into technical roadmaps.
• Build and deploy BI and ML pipelines that convert data into executive-grade insights with measurable ROI.
• Define repeatable, scalable solution patterns for broader teams to leverage across projects.
• Mentor field engineers on agentic AI, data governance, and platform architecture.
