Job summary

Samsara Inc. is hiring for a senior data engineer on the Marketing Data and Analytics Engineering team to shape our data and AI foundation. You will architect Databricks pipelines, Gold Layer tables, and semantic models to turn business challenges into scalable data products.

Collaborating with BI and Data Science, you’ll ensure trusted analytics, enable self-serve insights, and mentor engineers while delivering high-impact data solutions for marketing and GTM initiatives.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or AI engineering.
• Expert-level Python and SQL; strong data modeling and DBT experience.
• Experience with data warehouse/lakehouse architectures; Databricks (or similar).
• Experience shipping AI/LLM solutions in production.

Responsibilities

• Define strategy and multi-quarter roadmap for MDA's data/AI foundation.
• Architect Samsara's marketing data infrastructure: ETL/ELT pipelines, Databricks Gold Layer, core data models.
• Design semantic layers and data dictionaries for self-serve BI and analytics.
• Translate business questions into scalable data solutions; influence decisions with data.
• Lead cross-team data initiatives end-to-end; ensure reliability and data quality.
• Serve as senior technical lead; drive quality and code reviews; mentor engineers.
• Drive AI usage to solve high-impact problems; build AI-enabled data products.
