Job summary

Samsara Inc. is seeking an experienced data/AI engineer to lead the data foundation powering AI and self-serve analytics at scale.

You will architect Databricks pipelines, Gold Layer tables, and semantic models to turn complex business questions into high-value data products and autonomous workflows. You will shape the technical roadmap with Marketing Data and Analytics, collaborating with BI and Data Science peers, and mentor engineers while advancing cross-functional automation and AI-driven

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or AI engineering.
• Expert-level Python and SQL with strong data modeling.
• Deep experience with data warehouse and lakehouse architectures, ETL/ELT, and the modern data stack.
• Experience building semantic layers and structured documentation optimized for AI ingestion.
• Agentic coding tools are part of your regular workflow and you verify AI output.
• Experience building, shipping, evaluating, and monitoring AI/LLM agents in production.
• Track record of leading complex, cross-team data initiatives.
• Experience supporting Marketing, Sales, or Product teams.

Responsibilities

• Define strategy and roadmap for MDA's data and AI foundation.
• Architect and own Samsara's marketing data infrastructure and models.
• Design semantic layers and data dictionaries for self-serve BI.
• Translate business questions into scalable data solutions.
• Lead cross-team data initiatives end-to-end.
• Mentor engineers and analysts; raise engineering quality.
• Drive AI to solve high-impact problems with reliable data products.
• Automate workflows with AI across Marketing/ GTM teams.
