Job summary

Focus People is seeking an experienced Compliance Manager to oversee an affordable housing portfolio and serve as a subject matter expert on HUD regulations. The role identifies regulatory risks, conducts reviews, oversees corrective actions, and provides technical guidance to internal teams and external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of HUD and affordable housing rules, excellent analytical and communication skills, and a track record of monitoring multifamily

Qualifications

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex regulations.
• Demonstrated leadership experience and ability to guide internal/external stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for findings and recommendations.
• Experience developing and delivering training and technical guidance on compliance.
• Experience with risk-based compliance monitoring and corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Lead compliance oversight for an affordable housing portfolio and monitor adherence to program requirements.
• Conduct periodic and risk-based reviews of tenant files, property records, certifications, and supporting docs.
• Evaluate income qualification, occupancy, rents, and recertifications for compliance.
• Review property management submissions and ensure accuracy of reports.
• Analyze trends to identify deficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
• Escalate findings and determine corrective action based on severity.
• Prepare audit summaries, reports, and management memos with deadlines.
• Monitor corrective action plans and follow up to closure.
