Job summary

MBTA is seeking an AFC Senior Systems Technician-103 to assist in maintenance and repair of automated fare collection devices across the Bus and Subway system. The role focuses on keeping AFC equipment operational and addressing power or network issues to minimize downtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
• Three years of experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining electronic and electromechanical equipment.
• Ability to understand and respond to instructions and inquiries in English.
• Must hold a full-time AFC classification under Local 103.
• Massachusetts Journeyman Electrical license.
• Valid driver's license; able to lift 70 lbs.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and correct AFC equipment defects safely and efficiently.
• Repair and maintain AFC equipment at bench level.
• Operate testing equipment to diagnose device and network issues.
• Support AFC Systems Technicians as needed.
• Diagnose and repair electronic modules and PCBs by parts replacement.
• Troubleshoot LAN/WAN issues in stations and facilities.
• Use CCS/FareGo Data to research and correct issues.
• Maintain preventive maintenance records in Service Now.
• Drive company vehicle to job sites and emergencies.
