Job summary

DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) seeks a skilled Technician (EEO-4) to perform skilled preventive and corrective maintenance on electronic fare collection gear, signs, surveillance, counters, radio systems, and other on-board electronics. You may also handle related mechanical work as assigned.

Under supervision, you will troubleshoot to component level, calibrate systems, interpret schematics, and document repairs.

Qualifications

• Associates degree from an accredited college or university or certification from an accredited technical program in Electronics Technology.
• Must pass a technical test.
• Must have a valid Texas CDL Class B with Passenger Endorsement and clean driving record as required to operate DART vehicles.
• DOT medical examination and random drug/alcohol testing are prerequisites.
• Certification in compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Proficiency with PC software including MS Office (Word, Excel, Access).
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations and work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive maintenance, monitoring, troubleshoots, tests, repairs and maintains complex vehicle electronic systems on revenue vehicles.
• Troubleshoot to component level; maintain, test, repair, install and calibrate bus vehicle systems and subsystems.
• Use test instruments for installing, servicing and pre-testing electronic equipment.
• Conduct diagnostic tests on systems and components with portable and on-board test equipment.
• Interpret current and voltage waveforms; read schematics and diagrams.
• Develop solutions for operational faults in vehicle systems and components.
• Maintain safe and clean work areas and document repair status.
• Perform repairs to power plants, HVAC, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and minor body work as needed.
