Job summary

The Bay Area Rapid Transit district is seeking an Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) Electronic Technician to support maintenance, repair, and modification of fare collection equipment. You will troubleshoot electrical, electronic, and mechanical components at the journey level and help reduce downtime during peak ridership with accurate diagnostics.

The role requires field work, independent judgment, and clear communication with foreworkers, engineers, and staff about equipment status and repairs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and apprentice/technical training in electronics.
• Experience with AFC/electronic repair preferred.
• Ability to read manuals, diagrams and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain AFC equipment including power supplies, relays and boards.
• Diagnose faults using diagnostic tools and field measurements.
• Keep detailed records of work and parts used.
• Perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
