Job summary

Blue Origin on Merritt Island seeks an experienced Tooling Fabrication Engineer to lead design-to-build of tooling and large assemblies. You will drive manufacturability, advise on weld patterns and material choices, and collaborate with design, fabrication, and engineering teams to meet project milestones.

You will apply CAD and GD&T knowledge to interpret models, supervise inspection planning, and implement safety and efficiency improvements in the assembly process.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of tooling fabrication and assembly experience.
• Strong model/blueprint interpretation skills for welding and tool assembly.
• Detail-oriented with effective communication in fast-paced teams.
• Experience with large tooling components and assembly projects.
• Knowledge of welding and material selection to limit machining after weld.
• Proven ability to work with Tool Designers and Engineers throughout the design and build process.

Responsibilities

• Engage in design prior to the PDR phase and drive changes.
• Provide final approval for manufacturability and adapt to fabrication capabilities.
• Coordinate with fabrication planners to manage build sequence and hardware scheduling.
• Interrogate CAD models for fit, form, and function.
• Support inspection plans and GD&T conformance; produce inspection report.
• Collaborate with leadership to align priorities with Blue Origin.
• Implement safety and efficiency enhancements in assembly.
• Define and support repair and rework activities.
• Develop standard tooling shop practices for fabrication and assembly methods.
