Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a senior software engineer to join the Chassis Tester Software team in Seattle, WA, working on verification systems for the New Glenn program. You will write Linux instrument drivers, architect hardware-in-the-loop test frameworks, and own the automated result-checking infrastructure (Themis) that determines pass/fail for flight-critical hardware.

Qualifications

• Eight plus years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience writing Linux device drivers and test infrastructure.
• Strong Python, clean code, and testable design.
• Experience with socket programming and network telemetry.
• Experience with automated test frameworks (pytest).
• Ability to lead technical work across a team in aerospace context.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement production-quality Linux drivers for test instruments (power supplies, DMMs, oscilloscopes, etc.).
• Own driver lifecycle from characterization to documentation and integration testing.
• Collaborate with avionics hardware engineers to define envelopes and validate driver correctness.
• Architect and extend automated test execution frameworks and Themis.
• Develop operator-facing GUI/CLI tools for test campaigns and ensure usability for non-software users.
• Drive technical debt reduction and standardize interfaces across the stack.
• Develop platform integration layer and networked test architectures for multi-instrument configurations.
